At the serene riverside campus of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Bose House, a proposed Heritage Research Gallery The Sacred Flame of Nationalism will present three distinct exhibitions, each highlighting a vital dimension of India’s freedom struggle.
This gallery traces the evolution of social reform movements in colonial Bengal in the early 19th century, particularly in the context of the Ramakrishna Movement. It focuses on Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of spiritual nationalism and the profound influence of Sister Nivedita, who inspired many contemporary revolutionaries. The exhibition also brings to light the early lives of several monks of the Ramakrishna Order who were closely connected with revolutionary activities before embracing monasticism.
Swami Vivekananda’s ideals left a lasting impression on the life and thought of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The Swamiji’s stirring message of patriotism, selfless service, sacrifice, and moral strength shaped the foundation of Netaji’s political and revolutionary vision. This gallery portrays how Swamiji’s words and ideals became a guiding force in Netaji’s struggle and infused his leadership in India’s freedom movement with a new dimension.
