Our Motto

“True to the kindred points of Heaven and Home”

- William Wordsworth

Based on William Wordsworth’s poem “To the Skylark,” it can be said that the Ramakrishna Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, works as a bridge between God and humanity through its ideal: “For one’s own salvation and for the welfare of the world.” Through this ideal, a synthesis is achieved between individual spiritual liberation and the welfare of the world. Swamiji consistently emphasized that a kind of spiritual detachment which remains indifferent to the suffering of humanity is nothing but a form of selfishness. Recognizing the presence of divine consciousness in every living being, Swami Vivekananda propagated the message of “Practical Vedanta” among people.

Educational institutions are, in fact, one of the most important applied fields for this “Practical Vedanta.” Realizing the true nature of man, Swamiji understood that infinite divinity and perfect potential lie dormant within every individual. Just as sparks emerge from striking flint, so too does the external environment help bring forth the inner genius and creativity of human beings. True education, by creating the right environment, paves the way for this inner manifestation.

When an academic institution can effectively create this conducive environment, only then can it be said to have truly fulfilled the purpose of education. From its very inception, Vidyamandira, inspired by Swamiji’s educational philosophy, has remained committed to creating an environment that nurtures the full development of its students’ potential.
